About Document Storage

Oculock allows you to store important documents securely in your encrypted vault. This includes PDFs, images, identity documents, and other files. All documents are encrypted using AES-256 encryption before storage.

Storing Documents

Adding a Secure Document

  1. Tap the "+" button to add a new item
  2. Select "Secure Document" as the item type
  3. Enter a title for the document
  4. Tap "Add Document" or "Upload"
  5. Choose the source:
    • Photo Library: Select from your photos
    • Files: Browse and select from your device files
    • Camera: Take a new photo
  6. Select or capture the document
  7. Tap "Save" to store the document in your vault

Types of Documents You Can Store

  • Identity Documents: Passports, driver's licenses, ID cards
  • Financial Documents: Bank statements, tax documents, insurance cards
  • Legal Documents: Contracts, certificates, licenses
  • Medical Documents: Insurance cards, medical records, prescriptions
  • Images: Photos of important documents or receipts
  • PDFs: Any PDF files you want to store securely

Viewing Documents

How to View a Stored Document

  1. Open the vault containing the document
  2. Find and tap the document item
  3. The document will open in the document viewer
  4. You can zoom, scroll, and navigate through the document
  5. Tap "Done" to close the viewer

Managing Documents

Editing Document Information

You can edit the title and other metadata for a document:

  1. Open the document item
  2. Tap "Edit"
  3. Modify the title or other fields
  4. Tap "Save"

Replacing Documents

To replace a document with a newer version:

  1. Open the document item
  2. Tap "Edit"
  3. Tap "Replace Document"
  4. Select the new document
  5. Tap "Save"

Deleting Documents

To delete a document:

  1. Open the document item
  2. Tap "Delete"
  3. Confirm the deletion

Identity Document Items

In addition to storing document files, you can also create "Identity Document" items that store structured information about IDs, passports, and driver's licenses. These items include fields for:

  • Document type and number
  • Personal information (name, date of birth, address)
  • Issue and expiry dates
  • Issuing authority
  • Social Security Number (optional)

You can store both the structured data and attach document images to the same item.

Storage Considerations

  • Storage Space: Documents are stored locally on your device - ensure you have sufficient storage space
  • File Size: Large documents may take longer to encrypt and store
  • Backup: Regularly export your vault to back up your documents
  • Encryption: All documents are encrypted using AES-256 encryption

Security

All documents stored in Oculock are:

  • Encrypted: Encrypted using AES-256 encryption before storage
  • Local Only: Stored only on your device, never transmitted to external servers
  • Protected: Only accessible when your vault is unlocked
  • Secure: Protected by your master password and biometric authentication
