What is a Vault?
A vault is an encrypted container that stores all your passwords, identities, secure notes, and sensitive data. Think of it as a digital safe that only you can open.
Why Oculock™ Vaults Are Different
Unlike traditional password managers that store your data in the cloud, Oculock™ vaults are:
- Stored locally on your device — Your data never leaves your control. No cloud servers, no third-party access.
- Encrypted with keys only you hold — We use AES-256 encryption, and only you have the master password to decrypt your vault.
- Synced directly between your devices — Using Local Network Sync, your vaults sync device-to-device over your home network, not through our servers.
- Backed up on your terms — Export encrypted backups to USB drives or external storage that you control.
This local-first approach means even if a cloud service gets breached, your data stays safe because it was never there in the first place.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a vault and why is Oculock different from other password managers?
A vault is an encrypted container that stores all your passwords and sensitive data. Unlike cloud-based password managers, Oculock™ vaults are stored locally on your device, encrypted with keys only you hold, and synced directly between your devices over your home network — never through cloud servers. This means your data stays under your control and is protected even if a cloud service gets breached.
How do I reset my master password if I forget it?
Unfortunately, we cannot reset your master password due to our zero-knowledge architecture. However, if you have set up account recovery options or have a backup of your vault, you can use those to regain access. We recommend setting up account recovery when you first create your account.
Is my data safe if I lose my device?
Yes, your data is encrypted and stored securely. If you have cloud sync enabled, you can restore your vault on a new device. If you only use local storage, make sure to create regular backups of your vault data.
Can I use Oculock™ on multiple devices?
Yes! Oculock™ supports syncing across multiple devices. You can install the app on your phone, tablet, and computer, and your vault will stay synchronized across all devices.
How does biometric authentication work?
Biometric authentication (Touch ID, Face ID, fingerprint) provides quick access to your vault without entering your master password each time. The biometric data is stored securely on your device and never transmitted to our servers.
What happens to my data if I cancel my subscription?
Your core password management features will continue to work. Premium features like cloud sync, breach monitoring, and Snap Vault will be disabled, but your data remains safe and accessible.
Can I import passwords from other password managers?
Yes, Oculock™ supports importing passwords from most popular password managers including 1Password, LastPass, Bitwarden, and others. You can also import from CSV files.
How do I get the 6-digit code to download the desktop app?
To download Oculock™ for Windows, macOS, or Linux, go to the Downloads page on our website, then open the Oculock™ app on your phone, go to Settings → Verify Desktop Download, and scan the QR code. Your app will display a 6-digit verification code to enter on the website to start your download.
