Welcome to Oculock
Oculock™ is a personal data protection solution that stores all your passwords, identities, and sensitive data locally on your device. This guide will help you get started with creating your first vault and adding your first item.
Step 1: Download and Install
If you haven't already, download Oculock from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android).
Step 2: Create Your First Vault
When you first open Oculock, you'll need to create a vault. A vault is an encrypted container where all your passwords and sensitive data are stored.
Creating a Vault
- Open the Oculock app
- Tap the "+" button or "Create New Vault"
- Enter a name for your vault (e.g., "Personal", "Work")
- Choose your password option:
- Shared Master Password: Use the same password for multiple vaults (recommended for personal use)
- Vault-Specific Password: Use a unique password for this vault only
- Enter and confirm your master password
- Optionally set up a recovery phrase for account recovery
- Tap "Create Vault"
Important Password Tips
- Use a strong, unique password: Your master password should be at least 12 characters long and include a mix of letters, numbers, and symbols
- Never share your master password: This is the key to all your encrypted data
- Remember your password: We cannot recover your master password due to zero-knowledge encryption
- Set up a recovery phrase: This allows you to recover your vault if you forget your password
Step 3: Enable Biometric Authentication (Optional)
After creating your vault, you can enable Face ID or Touch ID for quick access without entering your master password each time.
Enabling Biometric Authentication
- Go to Settings in the app
- Navigate to Security
- Toggle on "Biometric Authentication"
- Follow the prompts to set up Face ID or Touch ID
Step 4: Add Your First Item
Now that your vault is created, you can start adding passwords and other sensitive information.
Adding a Password
- Tap the "+" button in the vault view
- Select "Login" as the item type
- Enter the website or service name
- Enter your username/email
- Enter your password (or use the password generator for a secure password)
- Optionally add the website URL
- Tap "Save"
