Understanding Vaults
A vault is an encrypted container where all your passwords and sensitive data are stored. You can create multiple vaults to organize your data by category (Personal, Work, Family, etc.) or by security level.
Creating a New Vault
How to Create a Vault
- Open the Oculock app
- If you're on the vault list, tap the "+" button
- If you're inside a vault, tap the vault name at the top and select "Create New Vault"
- Enter a name for your vault (e.g., "Personal", "Work", "Family")
- Choose your password option:
- Use Shared Master Password: Use the same password for multiple vaults. This is convenient if you want to unlock all your vaults with one password.
- Set Vault-Specific Password: Use a unique password for this vault only. This provides additional security isolation.
- Enter your master password (or vault-specific password)
- Confirm your password
- Optionally set up a recovery phrase
- Tap "Create Vault"
Password Options Explained
Shared Master Password: This is the recommended option for personal use. Once you set a master password, all vaults using this option can be unlocked with the same password. This makes it easier to manage multiple vaults.
Vault-Specific Password: Each vault can have its own unique password. This provides better security isolation - if one vault's password is compromised, your other vaults remain secure. This is useful for separating work and personal data.
Tip
You can mix both approaches - use a shared master password for your personal vaults, and vault-specific passwords for work or highly sensitive vaults.
Switching Between Vaults
How to Switch Vaults
- Tap the vault name at the top of the screen
- Select the vault you want to open from the list
- Enter the password for that vault (if different from your master password)
- The vault will unlock and display its items
