Password Generator Settings
You can customize the password generator to meet specific requirements:
Password Length
Adjust the length slider to set how many characters the password should contain. Most secure passwords are at least 16-20 characters long, but some websites may have specific requirements.
Character Types
- Uppercase Letters (A-Z): Include capital letters
- Lowercase Letters (a-z): Include lowercase letters
- Numbers (0-9): Include numeric digits
- Symbols (!@#$%...): Include special characters
Exclude Similar Characters
You can choose to exclude similar-looking characters (like 0, O, I, l) to avoid confusion when reading passwords.
Exclude Ambiguous Characters
Some characters may be excluded if they're not allowed by certain websites or are difficult to distinguish.
Password Strength
The password generator shows a strength indicator:
- Weak: Short passwords or limited character types
- Medium: Moderate length with mixed character types
- Strong: Long passwords with all character types
- Very Strong: Very long passwords (20+ characters) with all character types
Best Practices
- Use unique passwords: Generate a different password for each website or service
- Longer is better: Use at least 16 characters when possible
- Include all character types: Mix uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols
- Don't reuse passwords: Never use the same password for multiple accounts
- Let Oculock remember: Since Oculock stores your passwords securely, you don't need to remember them
Regenerating Passwords
If you don't like a generated password, you can:
- Tap the generate button again to create a new password
- Adjust the settings and regenerate
- Manually edit the password if needed (though auto-generated passwords are more secure)
